Rare 17th century Chinese yutang fugui kesi kossu panel. Depicting magnolia, peony, and crab-apple with a small deer walking through a landscape. A kesi panel with a similar design is displayed in the Shenyang Imperial Palace Museum. The magnolia, peony, and crab-apple flowers combined to form a popular auspicious rebus suggesting the phrase "yutang fugui." In Chinese, the white magnolia is "yulan," the crab-apple is "haitang," and the peony is "fuguihua." When combined they form the phrase "yutang fugui," meaning, "May your noble house be blessed with riches and honor." Sight; height: 21 1/2 in x width: 33 3/4 in. Framed; height: 30 in x width: 42 in x depth: 1 in.
