Olympic Games/ Summer, 1924-28-32-36/ Swimming/ Borg/ Taris/
Stunning photographic reportage of 25 glass plates (negatives) of the match between Arne Borg (1901-1987) and Jean Taris ( 1909-1977), Europe's two best swimmers, scheduled to take place at Les Tourelles on August 31, 1929. Unfortunately, Taris suffered an appendicitis attack and had to forfeit the race, but Arne Borg, the five-time Olympic medallist, lived up to his reputation. Weissmuller's adversary in Paris, as in Amsterdam, the Swede excelled in both the 400m and 800m, where he dominated a team of relays. The Scuf's organization at Les Tourelles provides new material for a future swimming museum. 10 x 15 cm. Very rare.
