Olympic Games/ Summer, 1948/ London/ Official torch. Torch in alumunium alloy signed Ralph Lavers, with its three cut-outs in the hearth embracing the five Olympic rings. Limited to 1720 units, this model was used for the 1956 Games in Melbourne, Cortina and even Squaw-Valley in 1960. H. Height : 47cm Weight : 960 gr From Olympia, it covered 3000 km. In France, in two stages, first in the East (it arrives from Italy) via Besançon and Nancy, then on the Atlantic (it made a detour in Belgium) via Dieppe, St Omer and Calais, from where it will reach London by boat: in England it was brandished by 270 torchbearers over 647 km, which means that the bearers covered between one and three kilometers. It was carried by 1,416 bearers, who were thanked with the inscription: "XIV Olympic Games, London, 1948, Olympia to London, with Thanks to the bearer".
