Olympic Games/ Winter, 1948/ Saint-Moritz/
Official rooster.
French team rooster sings over the rings and the words Saint-Moritz 1948. Brooch on back. Rare
H.: 2.5 cm
It's very, very rare, because this French team had only 36 ambassadors: apart from the "monsters" Oreiller and Couttet, there were also names that resonate and will resonate with their parents, Désiré Lacroix (1927-2013), whose cousin Léo, always in Olympic form, won a silver medal at the '64 Games, and Claude Penz (1924-2006), father of Alain, double World Cup winner in slalom. In the women's category, the Thiollière sisters, Françoise Gignoux and Lucienne Schmitt-Couttet were also jostling for position. Detail: on December 5, 2025, the centenary of the birth of Henri Oreiller will be celebrated, and we're told that a philatelic issue is planned.
