Nasa. RARE. Historic astrophotography photograph. Observation from the Lick telescope. The Lick telescope is located on the Diablo Range in California. It was one of the very first terrestrial observatories where mankind discovered what the galaxies and nebulae of our universe look like. Here, a terrestrial view of the Messier 64 extragalactic nebula. It is located in the Hair of Berenice. Note the dark matter cloud in the middle of the spirals. Circa 1930.
