Mark Laita is a wonderful American photographer who after several years dedicated to commercial photography has presented in recent years a series of books with his personal work. Of these, I have selected a sample of two of the most interesting: "Created Equal", from 2010 and "Serpentine", from this year. He has produced award-winning commercial work for clients such as Adidas, Apple and Mercedes-Benz. Laita's first book of non-commercial work, Created Equal, is the result of an eight-year cross-country project featuring 8×10 black and white portraits of Americans from a wide range of cultures, occupations and backgrounds. Her work has been exhibited in galleries in the United States and Europe.
