L. HOPFER (17th) after DÜRER (*1471), Christ before Caiaphas, Etching Lambert Hopfer (17th century) after Albrecht Dürer (1471 Nuremberg - 1528 ibid.): Christ before the high priest Caiaphas, 17th century, Etching Technique: Etching on Paper Inscription: Upper middle monogrammed: "LH". At the lower part inscribed in the printing plate: "177". Verso further inscription: "B.6 H 190". Date: 17th century Description: Enlarged copy on the same side without Dürer's monogram and date. Inscribed with the monogram "LH" at the top centre next to a stylised hop stalk. Numbered "177" lower left. The depiction corresponds to sheet 4 from Dürer's engraved Passion, which was created between 1507 and 1512. The sheet is from the series of reprints "Operae Hopferianae [..] / Daniel, Hieronymus, Atq. Lambertus Hopferi [...]" by the Nuremberg publisher David Funck from the late 17th century. The numbering identifies this sheet as part of the second print series (cf. Vogt 2008, pp. 354-359).
