Description:
The artwork presents an interaction between three figures in historical costumes, embedded in an interior with classical elements. A man hands a small bottle to a seated woman in a hat, while a second woman watches them, accompanied by a small dog. The scene is framed by an oval border that emphasises the central motif. The scene shows the enamoured Lord Thomas (also Sweet Willie) kneeling before the beautiful Annet (also Annie or Elinor) and presenting her with a rose. Next to him is the jealous "nut-brown maiden" with a dagger. Illustration of an English folk ballad called "Lord Thomas and Fair Annet"
