PIRANESI (1758-1810), Cooking utensils from Pompeii, 1805, Etching Francesco Piranesi (1758 Rom - 1810 Paris): Ancient cooking and household utensils from the ruins of Pompeii, 1805, Etching Technique: Etching on Paper Inscription: lower left signed in the printing plate: "Dessiné par F. Piranesi L'an 1805". At the lower part inscribed in the printing plate: "Ustencilles de ménage, des anciens trouvés à Pompeia". Date: 1805 Description: The depiction shows four antique objects from the ruins of Pompeii, carefully arranged and captured in detail in a print. In the foreground a bowl and a jug, behind it a large plate ornament and a jug, surrounded by vegetative elements that suggest historical relics.
