B. Piranesi / Gravé par F. Piranesi L'an 1806". At the lower part inscribed in the printing plate: "Perspective du Temple d'Isis, et du petit Temple Egyptien tels qu'ils se trouvent ajourdhuy[...]". Date: 1806 Description: Depiction of the ruins of Pompeii with the remains of two temples. Classical architectural elements such as columns, arches and beams are depicted in decay. Dramatic shadow play and finely detailed drawing emphasise the transience and grandeur of the scene.
