Globular vessel; Chorrera Culture, Ecuador, 500-400 BC. Terracotta. Measurements: 17,5 x 14,5 cm. Bowl decorated with reddish polychrome on the body and upper part of the mouth to which has been added a protruding anthropomorphic head in the center of the globular part. The Chorrera culture, more specifically Horizonte Chorrera, was located on the coast and part of the highlands of Ecuador between 1300 and 300 B.C. Its name applies to a classic style of pottery that is located in the interior of the Guayas basin, in the plains of the province of Esmeraldas and in the valleys of Manabí. At the regional level there are massive figurines, coarser, but more expressive and always molded by hand.
