Eros personified love, passion and procreation. He was a mischievous and unruly god, sometimes cruel. His arrows, which he shot with a golden bow, aroused unbridled love and passion. Once pierced by these arrows, no one could resist Eros. In a later story, Eros became a victim of his own power when he developed a desperate passion for the beautiful Psyche.
