One of 1000 numbered copies. - The Book of Hours by Étienne Chevalier was created between 1448 and 1457 and is now considered "one of the greatest masterpieces of Western book illumination". It was created by Jean Fouquet (around 1420-1480), one of the greatest artists of French book illumination. Fouquet worked for numerous important patrons and was in the service of the kings Charles VII and Louis XI - in near mint condition. Facsimile edition in 2 vols. (Facs. and comm.). Reproduction of the single leaves mounted in groups of four under mat. Loosely inserted in original calf case with stamped cover title and medallion with a portrait of Jean Fouquet. - One of 1000 numbered copies. - The Book of Hours of Étienne Chevalier was created by Jean Fouquet (c. 1420-1480), one of the greatest artists in the history of book illumination. Fouquet worked for numerous important clients and was in the service of kings Charles VII and Louis XI - Near mint condition.
