Cat. of Books on Art I, 713 - Impressive work of views of Scotland with extremely atmospheric depictions. Graffman visited Scotland in 1830, where he also met Walter Scott at Abbotsford Castle. The beautiful plates show numerous castles and bucolic scenes, including Edinburgh Castle, Stirling Castle, Abbotsford, Dundarow Castle, Dunsstaffanedge Castle, but also beautiful landscapes, including Ben Lomond, views of Perthshire, Trossachs Pass and the obligatory shepherd scene (Inverary). The list of subscribers lists 449 copies including 11 copies for the Swedish royal family. - Bll. mounted at inner fold. Title page with small stain. Some foxing, motifs hardly affected.
