De Vesme 690-713 - 2nd printing state (of 3) before the removal of the publisher's name. - The series mostly engraved after animals that were kept in the Medici menageries in Florence and in those of the King of France in Paris, to which Bella had access. - Stefano della Bella was a Florentine draughtsman and etcher of the Baroque period. He was particularly well known among his contemporaries for his illustrious maps and decorations, but his extensive oeuvre also included battle, military and hunting scenes as well as capriccios and animal series. One of his greatest patrons was Lorenzo de Medici, who enabled him to study in Rome between 1633 and 1636. - With predominantly very narrow margins around the platemark. Only with occasional small pale brown spots, but overall in very good condition. The impressions throughout extremely differentiated with pronounced ridge effect. Complete series of 24 etched plates from the series "Diversi Animali". Mostly signed or monogrammed in the plate.
