With the red estate stamp and the autograph number 824 verso. Probably an unpublished caricature for the magazine Simplicissimus on the occasion of the 1936 Olympic Games. With the artist's own handwritten text: "Stille Feier. Now the youth of the world is being called out again - but I was once the world's second-best runner." - Karl Arnold (1883-1953) studied from 1901 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich under Karl Raupp, Ludwig von Löfftz and Franz von Stuck. Out of financial necessity, he turned to the editorial offices of the leading Munich illustrated magazines and from 1907 published drawings in Simplicissimus and in the magazine Die Jugend. By 1942, Arnold had published over 1800 drawings in Simplicissimus. - Small holes from previous mounting in the margins, mainly under the passepartout. Beautifully preserved and lively composition. Original sketch. Pen and graphite on wove paper. Framed under mat and glass. With the red estate stamp and the autograph number 824 verso.
