This wonderful collection of splendidly colored designs is located on the threshold between Art Nouveau and Art Deco. The sheets were most likely used as patterns for textiles and contain a variety of both playful and geometric motifs, often with depictions of birds and flowers. The Art Deco style that emerged at this time is characterized above all by its eclecticism. Drawing on a variety of sources, it attempted to combine old European design traditions with the modern style popularized by avant-garde art. - The French painter, graphic artist and decorator Jacques Camus (born 1893) was a student of Claudio Castelucho and Lucien Simon. From 1924, he worked as a professor of decorative design at the École des Arts appliqués. - The plates printed by A. Calavas, Paris. - Slightly browned in the margins.
