Magnificently framed in a gold-colored stucco frame of the period with arcanthus leaf decoration. - Along the edges with slight color abrasion and isolated color losses. Some yellowing there. With occasional fine craquelure. With superficial soiling. No retouching visible under UV. Good overall. Atmospheric scene with man and horse in front of a wintry landscape. Fritz van der Vennes' oeuvre is characterized by his great interest in horses, which he painted in front of a wide variety of backdrops. Stylistically, the artist was certainly a German Impressionist, the echoes of Naturalism still shine through, the overall coloring is somewhat more subdued, which loosens up the scene of the carriage ride. Atmospheric scene with man and horse in front of a wintry landscape. - Fritz van der Venne's oeuvre is characterized by his great interest in horses which he painted against a wide variety of backgrpunds. Stylistically the artist was certainly part of German Impressionism, echoes of Naturalism are visible though, colors are rather subdued overall and lightens the scene of the carriage ride up.
