Poland Badge of the 5th Podhale Rifle Regiment 1920 - 1945

Panasiuk; The 46th Infantry Regiment (Polish: 46 Pułk Strzelców Kresowych, French: 4e Régiment d'Infanterie Polonaise), later the 5th Infantry Regiment of the Podgałski Riflemen (Polish: 5 Pułk Strzelców Podhalańskich) was a military unit of the Polish Army active during the Polish-Bolshevik War of 1920. Initially formed in Italy and France as part of General J. Blue Army Jozef Haller, it was named the 4th Polish Rifle Regiment. It arrived in Poland in May 1919 and was merged with the rest of the Polish army under a new name and number (46th Infantry Regiment). He took part in many battles of the Polish-Bolshevik War, notably the Battle of Radzimin, where his 1st Battalion broke through under enemy fire and allowed the Soviets to capture the strategically important city, leading to a three-day battle for Radzimin. After the war, in October 1921 it was reorganized into the 5th Infantry Regiment of the Podhala Riflemen, which was part of the mountain infantry units of the Podhala Riflemen.; Condition-I (KW100?)
