In 1917, the Lincoln company was founded in Detroit. Its creator, Henry M. Leland, who was also one of the founders of the famous Cadillac company, set his sights on establishing himself as a luxury car manufacturer. However, the company fell victim to financial difficulties and was bought by Henry Ford in 1922, who turned it into his prestige car division. The design of our car was created by Bob Gregorie, Ford's chief stylist, based on an idea by Edsel Ford. It is advertised in the Lincoln range as "an exclusive, luxurious, handcrafted automobile for the discerning, affluent consumer",
The "Continental" model is recognized by the Museum of Modern Art as one of eight "works of automotive art", and by Times magazine as one of the ten best-designed commercial industrial products of all time,
Ten generations of Lincolns were produced between the early 1940s and the 2000s. In 1947, 1,570 Lincolns were built, including our model.

There is some pitting on the chromes and a scratch on the front right fender, but the upholstery is in very good condition, as is the soft top.
