A Xu Beihong ink and color on paper painting titled "Willow and Magpie". Signed on the left. Provenance: According to the consignoer, the owner of Mr. Xu Beihong’s work is Mr. Chen Huibin a retired official of the Beijing government. This painting of Xu Beihong's was presented to Mr. Chen Huibin on July 19, 1985 by Xu Beihong's wife, Mrs. Liao Jingwen. At that time, Mr. Chen Huibin served as a member of the preparatory committee of Xu Beihong Memorial Hall. Mr. Chen Huibin has always maintained a good relationship with Mr. Xu Beihong’s wife, Liao Jingwen and Mr. Xu Beihong’s son Mr. Xu Qingping. Mr. Xu Beihong’s son Xu Qingping now serves as the director of the Xu Beihong Memorial Hall. This work was authenticated by Mr. Xu Qingping. An image of Mr. Chen Huibin and Mr. Xu Qingping (left) depicted together is provided. Dimensions: 26 1/4 x 14 1/4 in., (66.7 x 36.2 cm.) Near perfect with expected yellowing due to age. Some minor evidence of moisture on rice paper matting.
