A man of letters, Charles de Fieux de Mouhy was born in Metz in 1701. He began his career in the military
1735, when he married, to take up his pen in Paris. He published novels and theoretical works
theoretical works on the history of theater, as well as a periodical combining literary criticism
Parisian life, Le Répertoire. He corresponded with Voltaire, for whom he acted as an intermediary.
