Note: Since the early 40s. Charles Camoin divided his time between his Montmartre studio and the South of France. In 1946, he
rented a studio overlooking the port of Saint Tropez. Views of the Gulf of Saint Tropez, its surroundings and the region became the artist's favourite motifs.
motifs of choice. Our picture, like a number of other views of the port of Cannes from this period, was most probably painted by Camoin from the window of the Hôtel Méditerranée in Cannes.
