A pair of Weimar vases with battalion scenes - KPM Berlin - Footed ovoid form on a round plinth, the base with a snake biting its tail in relief, two raised handles with acanthus bases, gadrooned shoulder, domed lid with pearl bar and pinecone finial; both sides polychrome painted with battle and encampment scenes in gold lace cartouches, otherwise all-over yellow ground, the tongue friezes and leaf reliefs painted in rose, rich gold decoration. Underglaze blue sceptre mark and impressed mark "D 3" on the base. H. 44 cm. - Gold only slightly rubbed. - From a Franconian private collection.
