Flemish school of the 19th century Sleeping child White marble Height: 10 cm, width: 36 cm, depth: 14 cm Related works : -Rome, Sleeping Eros, 2nd century AD, marble, l. 69 cm, Florence, Uffizi Gallery, inv. This sleeping child is probably inspired by the Hellenistic theme of Cupid asleep, which was very popular in ancient times and during the Renaissance, particularly in the works of Praxiteles and Michelangelo. Our work is the fruit of the ancient influence found in the features of the face and hair, as well as the many representations of sleeping children created by the famous Flemish sculptor François Duquesnoy.
