Important and fine Aubusson rug in the Louis XVI style, circa 1960 Woven wool carpet on cotton backing Tapestry technique Needlework Double carpet Pale sky-blue polylobed field adorned with a central ivory medallion shaped ' by garlands in the form of pastel stylized flower cords and inlaid with a bouquet of polychrome flowers on a beige counter-ground. Four spandrels with reserves of multicolored floral sprays framed by fine crenellated foliage in feather-shaped twists and symmetry. Two polychrome flower baskets surround the large central medallion, forming a symmetry that creates a remarkable balance.
