HISTORY - FRANCE Charles X of (1757 - 1836) - Autograph letter
Autograph letter, not dated, by the King of France from 16 September 1824 until 2 August 1830. After the Bourbon Restoration in 1814, Charles (as heir-presumptive) became the leader of the ultra-royalists, a radical monarchist faction within the French court that affirmed absolute monarchy by divine right and opposed the constitutional monarchy concessions towards liberals and the guarantees of civil liberties granted by the Charter of 1814. The King pens a message of discontent against the Cardinal of Cherbourg: “La publication dans les journaux de Toulouse du 9 de ce mois, de la lettre ecréte par M. Le C.al de Cherbourg T… le 8 a M. Le M…. des Aff.. et qui ayant causé au Roi une juste mecontentement…”. 1 p. In-obl. With royal mark.
