LITERATURE - MORTIER Alfred (1865 - 1937) - 87 unpublished autograph letters signed Extensive correspondence consisting of 87 unpublished autograph letters signed, by journalist, playwright and translator from Italian, founder of the 'Petit Monégasque' and one of the founders of the new 'Mercure de France'. Addressed to his friend Bruno Brunelli. The letters constitute an interesting corpus of news related to the writer's multiple cultural and professional activities. In the letter of December 5, 1829 he informs that his publisher has commissioned him a volume on Machiavelli's "The Prince": "dont, depuis six mois, je n'ai pas eu loisir d'écrire une ligne...". Total of over 200 pp. Some on postcards, others in-8. In French. Included are 2 letters addressed to Mortier, an envelope and a newspaper clipping.
