Important Magdalena in the Desert, ATTRIBUTED TO JUAN BAUTISTA MAÍNO (Pastrana, Guadalajara, 1581 - Madrid, 1649), Baroque school of the early 17th century Report is attached at the buyer's request. We thank the Doctor in Art History from the University of Sevila, Don Enriaue Valdivieso, for his invaluable help in cataloging and identifying this work. Possibly painted around 1614 by Master Juan Bautista Maíno, shortly after completing his decisive training in Rome. The figure forcibly evokes the work of Caravaggio, while the complex and rich landscape, full of pleasant details carried out with admirable thoroughness, must be seen as one of the earliest and most beautiful examples of the classicist landscape, begun at similar dates by Annibale Carracci or Adam Elsheimer, among others. Canvas measurements (not attached to the frame) 80 x 79 cm. Provenance: important Andalusian private collection (lots 148 to 175).
