Italy - MANGLARD (Adrien). Raccolta di vedute, e composizioni diverse inventate, ed incise all'acquaforte. Rome, Fabri, sd [1753]. Oblong folio, green half-chagrin, smooth spine decorated. Rare suite complete with title and 32 etching plates depicting Roman landscapes, the Colosseum in Rome, views of bridges in Rome or Tivoli, fireworks from the Castel Sant'Angelo, and 13 marine prints. Adrien Manglard, painter and etcher (1695 - 1760) was a pupil of Van der Kabelle. Admitted to the Académie Royale de Paris in 1736, he was also Joseph Vernet's master and lived for many years in Italy. A member of the Académie de Saint-Luc in Rome since 1735, he executed works for the Rospighosi and Colonna palaces in that city. He engraved seascapes, landscapes and historical subjects.
