FLAMENG (Léopold) & PREVOST (Abbé). Histoire de Manon Lescaut et du chevalier des grieux. Paris, Glady, 1875. Large in-8, red morocco, richly decorated ribbed spine, boards richly decorated with Du Seuil-style decoration, double gilt fillet on the edges, wide gilt inner border, gilt edges, slipcase, covers preserved (Chambolle-Duru). Limited edition of 333 copies; one of 50 on chine containing 1 state of the 13 hors-texte illustrations, namely, a title-frontispiece, 1 portrait of Dumas engraved by Jacquemart and 11 figures drawn and etched by Flameng, including 1 portrait of Abbé Prévost. Ornaments, fleurons, culs-de-lampe, etc. are designed by Reiber and engraved by Pannemaker. A suite of 6 hors-texte figures, including 1 portrait, drawn and engraved by Hédouin, has been added on vellum. (Vicaire VI, 816.) A very fine copy.
