A LARGE OINOCHOE H. 38 cm. Beige clay, dark brown matt glaze. Italo-Geometric, Cumae (?), late 8th-7th B.C. Piriform body on a conical foot; tall neck with trefoil mouth; strap handle with threefold ribbing. Decorated with ornamental friezes of triangles, hatched metopes, windmills in a circle, hourglass motifs and coronas, each separated from the next by an encircling stripe. Foot restored; paint retouched in places. Provenance: Formerly Estate Wladimir Rosenbaum (1894-1984), before 1984. Thereafter priv. Coll. Roman Keller, Aargau, Switzerland. Birnenförmiger Gefässkörper auf konischem Fuss; hohe Mündung; Kleeblattausguss; dreifach gerippter Bandhenkel. Ornamentaler Fries-Dekor: gegenständige Dreiecke, Metopenschraffur, Windräder im Kreis, Stundenglasmotiv und Strahlenkränze, jeweils unterteilt durch umlaufende Streifen.
