GRAND AUTOMATE DE SALON «CLOWN PRESTIDIGITATEUR» Par Léopold LAMBERT (1854-1935) France, vers 1895 Matériaux Carton moulé, bois H. 63 cm, L. 19 cm, P. 27 cm Provenance Ancienne collection du Docteur Max Tassel Superbe automate de fabrication française par Léopold Lambert représentant un clown magicien avec tête et corps en carton moulé. Il se tient debout derrière une table en bois noirci recouverte d'une nappe en velours vert à franges et sur laquelle est placé un gobelet que le clown tient de la main droite, dans sa main gauche, il tient une baguette. Il salue de la tête, tourne sa tête de droite à gauche et tire la langue, puis il lève de sa main gauche sa baguette et de la droite, il lève le gobelet découvrant un objet différent à chaque manipulation (une montre, un dé, une broche et un ensemble de trois boules), répétant les mêmes mouvements. Movements: He moves his head from side to side as though seeking an audience, then nods before performing sticks out the tongue, he taps the cone with his wand and lifts the cup revealing a surprise beneath, the actions repeated four times and each time a different treasure is revealed (watch, thimble, set of three balls, a broach).
