PRE-NASA. Photographie historique d'un des premiers décollage de fusée américaine. Ici la fusée "VIKING" décolle depuis la base militaire de "WHITE SANDS" au Nouveau Mexique. On constate aisément les similitudes de la fusée avec ses aînées V2 allemandes qui furent récupérées à la fin de la seconde guerre mondiale moins d'une décennie auparavant par l'armée américaine. On notera aussi l'architecture rudimentaire du pas de tir avec ses échaffaudages précaires et l'antenne ondes courtes caractéristique. Mai 1954.Tirage argentique d'époque. Légende manuscrite et date au dos. 20,8 x 17,4cm avec marges.
PRE-NASA. Photographs historical of one of thefirst takeoff of American rocket. Here, the rocket “VIKING” takes off since the military base of “WHITE SANDS” in New Mexico. One easilynotes the similarities of the rocket with his elder V2 German which were recovered at the end ofthe Second World War less than one decadebefore by the American army. One will note also the rudimentary architecture of the launch pad with his precarious scaffolding and the antennashort waves characteristic. May 1954. Vintage gelatin silver print. Handwritten legend and date with the back. 20.8 X 17,4cm with margins.
