The document being a Parisian telegram postmarked. Bernhardt, in her usual difficult writing, states in part `My dear Carré, I spent my journey and my evening away and only received your message when I returned… In any case all this would have been impossible because I do not have a costume, but in exchange I have…´ Accompanied by a 3.5 x 5 photograph, unsigned, the image showing Bernhardt seated, in costume and wearing a crown, in a half-length profile pose.
