The Explorer II model was originally developed to accompany speleologists on their cave exploration expeditions and as such was designed with extreme durability in mind. The model features a fixed bezel with 24 hour display and a special 24 hour hand that can be set to distinguish day from night hours. Making the watch especially useful for explorers in caves or places such as the Arctic where the sun does not travel though the horizon on a regular basis. In addition the watch can be used as a compass in both the northern and southern hemisphere by pointing the hour hand at the sun and using the 24hr hand to determine north or south.
