Fragment of the original bench seat of the entrance staircase of Park Güell.

Mortar, ceramic and ceramic trencadís.
Framed in iron.
Measurements: 140 x 45 x 10 cm.
This original piece is a fragment of the original seat of the bench on the main staircase at the entrance to Park Güell. It was substituted and replaced by the current ceramic in the restoration of 1985-1993. It is the odeon-shaped bench of the last section of the double staircase of access to the enclosure. In Park Güell, trencadís is one of the most emblematic finishing materials. Gaudí used bright, long-lasting colors on undulating surfaces that captured this brightness and enhanced the plastic effects. To achieve these conditions he used ceramics, but he needed them to adapt to the variety of surfaces he built. Trencadis was the solution that allowed him to use this material flexibly in all types of construction, even in rounded shapes.
