3 healing scrolls. 19th c C. 170,1 x 6,7 cm, 196,9 x 10,4 cm and 183,1 x 9,8 cm, vellum, Ge'ez text, black, red and purple ink, red, blue and brown wash (few light stains, few holes, 1 sl. rubbed at top, 1 sl. browned and dusty). Nice set of scrolls combining texts from the Ethiopian Coptic Bible and magic spells. The prayers are written to protect a woman, Wolete Abye Egzie, and a man, Wolde Abraha, against demons, illnesses and falling in love by magic. The Classical Ethiopic text in black with holy names and words in red. Images include an archangel slaying a demon, seraphs and a hexagram.
