A LARGE AFRICANO MARBLE THEATRICAL MASK First half of the 2nd century AD 40,7 cm (16,02) high Finely sculpted theatrical mask depicting a male figure with long locks, large nose and cheekbones, prominent beard with coiled lips. The facial features belongs to the Roman new Comedy style. The presence of three holes located in correspondence of the eyes and the mouth suggest that the mask was used for the passage of the water. Lead nails for attachment under the mask PROVENANCE: Ex Ghassan T. Rihani Collection. Amman, Jordan.
