A VOTIVE STATUETTE OF A SHEPHERD H. 8.8 cm. Clay. Near East, late 3rd-early 2nd mill. B.C. Seated figure with pointed cap and beard. The eyes are affixed. The wide mouth with full lips and large, pointed nose dominate the whole figure, which rests on the feet and hem. It holds an ibex kid (?) in its lap. Base and tip of one foot worn. Type MAIV 1a after Badre. Provenance: Coll. A.L., Basle, 1970s. Type MAIV 1a describes human figures with a long, beak-shaped face. - For a closely related head with similar underpinning, cf. the statuette in Badre - 1980, 54 f. (on the type) 192. 196 no. 3. 7. pls. 9. 10. VOTIVSTATUETTE EINES HIRTEN H. 8.8 cm. Ton. Vorderer Orient, Ende 3.-Anfang 2. Jt.v.C. Sitzend, mit spitzer Kappe und Bart. Aufgesetzte Augen; breiter, volllippiger Mund und grosse, spitze Nase dominieren die gesamte Figur. Füsse und Gewandsaum als Standfläche. Im Schoss kleiner Steinbock (?). Basis und eine Fussspitze bestossen. Typus MAIV 1a nach Badre. Provenienz: Slg. A.L., Basel, 1970er Jahre. Der Typus MAIV 1a benennt menschliche Figuren mit länglichem, vogelschnabelförmig geformtem Gesicht. - Vgl. stilistisch ein sehr verwandtes Köpfchen sowie mit ähnlichem Unterbau eine Statuette, s.
