L'Inspiration du peintre, c.1970/75 oil and ink on canvas mounted on cardboard 27 x 22 cm (11 x 9 in.) estate signature stamp lower right PROVENANCE: Collection of Ida Chagall, Paris. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity issued by Comite Chagall, signed by Jean Luis Prat, dated February 9, 2004, numbered 2004023B. Marc Chagall L'Inspiration du peintre, c.1970/75 - painted in magnificent blues represents one of the most frequent and important motifs in Chagall's oeuvre - artist at work. Artist with palette and a flower bouquet in his hands is painting couple of lovers. He is influenced by the scenes and atmosphere of Paris, but still not leaving behind his childhood memories - the donkey and the houses of Vitebsk on the background in the rays of the red sun.(*)
