A TYPE B AMPHORA IN SIX'S TECHNIQUE H. 40.9 cm. Orange Attic clay, lustrous black clay paint, added white, details incised. Attic, 520-500 B.C. Obverse and reverse are decorated with a youth walking to left, black rays above the foot. Several holes from ancient repairs around one handle and at the neck and shoulder. Reassembled from fragments. Several restorations at neck, shoulder and body, in front of the chest of one figure, and at the handle roots. Breaks sealed and retouched. Foot slightly worn. Surface abraded in places. Amphorae decorated in Six?s technique are exceedingly rare. Provenance: Formerly art market, New York, 1960?s. Thereafter private coll., Europe. Vorder- und Rückseite sind je mit einem nach links schreitendem, nackten Jüngling verziert, schwarzer Strahlenkranz über dem Fuss. Um einen Henkel, an Hals und Schulter mehrere Löcher von antiken Flickungen. Aus Fragmenten zusammengesetzt. Mehrere Ergänzungen an Hals, Schulter und Bauch, vor der Brust einer Figur, an Henkelansätzen. Nähte geschlossen und retuschiert. Bestossungen am Fuss. Oberfläche stellenweise berieben.
