A WHITE-GROUND FUNERARY LEKYTHOS H. 38 cm. Orange Attic clay, lustrous black clay paint, white slip on shoulder and body, light blue, red and pink paint. Attic, ca. 430 B.C. On the shoulder palmettes with alternating red and black leaves. On the body a visit to the tomb. On the left a young woman with a flat basket stands to right at a stele crowned with egg pattern and acanthus leaves, in front of which a youth and a boy shake hands. Reassembled from large fragments, breaks retouched. Restoration in front of the head and chest of the man on the right. Handle reattached. Rim of mouth slightly worn. Provenance: Formerly Coll. WEISSGRUNDIGE GRABLEKYTHOS H. 38 cm. Oranger attischer Ton, schwarzer Glanzton, weißer Überzug auf Schulter und Körper, hellblaue, rote und rosa Deckfarbe. Attisch, um 430 v.C. Auf der Schulter Palmetten mit abwechselnd roten und schwarzen Blättern. Den Vasenkörper ziert ein Besuch eines Grabes. Links steht eine junge Frau mit flachem Korb nach rechts an einer mit Eierstab und Akanthusblättern bekrönten Stele, vor der ein Knabe und ein junger Mann einander die Hand reichen. Aus grossen Fragmenten zusammengesetzt; Nähte retuschiert. Ergänzung vor Kopf und Brust des rechten Mannes. Henkel angesetzt. Mündungsrand bestossen. Provenienz: Ehem. Slg.
