The alchemist, s.d. Tool engraving publ. by Hans Cock, borderline +/- 32,4 x 44,4 cm (trimmed to the platemark); with engr. names and Latin caption. Pasted by upper corners under passe-partout and frame (unframed). Central fold and light stains almost visible on verso, some sm. wormholes, corners strengthened, paper locally thinner at upper right side. Good general condition. Rare 1st state (of 3) with Cock's adress, 3 lines Latin verses and the word “Hospital”. Reverse drawing by P. Brueghel in Berlin, dated 1558. Ref. Hollstein III, p. 296, 197 (= Van Bastelaer 197).
