[Breviary] - Breviary with prayers and Psalms, in Latin and French. [France, 15th c.]. Manuscript on vellum, c. 13,7 x 10 cm, 18th-c. calf (rubbed), richly gilt spine on 4 raised bands, gilt sides, red edges, marbl. endpapers, [156] ruled ff., skilfully written in various gothic hands in black/ brown ink, 14 ll. (a few margins sl. soiled or stained); kept in a cloth box. Well-preserved. Cfr. ill. Very attractive religious manuscript, rubricated throughout, with hundreds of 2- or 3-line penwork initials in red or blue, all with gold foil (some initials extending into the margin), 1 f. with extensive leafy decoration in the margin, a number of ff. with rectangular horizontal penwork decoration in red and blue. Contents: (f. 1-11) French Calendar (lacking “July”), with some typical saints in red (Pol, Adix, Yves, Eloy, Loys Roy, Andrieu); (f. 12-156) Gospel readings, Psalms and prayers, with 1 blank f.
