Ivory netsuke Japan 19th century, Tenpo period (1830-1843) The Chinese boy (Karako) is holding a putty knife in one hand and placing his other hand on the snow man he has created. The snowman has transformed into Daruma, the Zen-patriarch, much to the delight of the boy. The tufts of hair of the Karako are inlaid in black horn. Underside with irregular, good himotoshi and signature NAOKAZU. HEIGHT 2.6 CM Condition: Very good condition.
