A Chinese amber-ground turquoise, aubergine, and... Lot n° 14

The bowl is decorated to the exterior with boys at play in a garden scene amongst flowers, all above a lappet band at the foot. The interior is decorated with a medallion enclosing a further boy, the rim is decorated with a geometric floral band. The white-glazed base bears a Jiajing mark. Condition: There is a star crack to the base (approx. 3 cm. long) There are some shallow chips to the footrim (the largest approx. 1.2 cm.). Part of the mouthrim has been lightly polished.
